| Hi all, Does anyone ever buy college jerseys?
I have a couple of nice Nike ones (Seau USC and Taylor NC) Its harder to spot fakes mind you.
Has anyone got any "gridiron greats" college jerseys? I can guess these are not licensed in anyway just wondered on the quality?
Picked up a really cheap Alabama Shaun Alexander one.... Under a fiver in my size delivered. I know it cant be licensed as at Alabama Alexander had the name SU.ALEXANDER as his name and the one I picked up just has Alexander but for a fiver ill happy do the house work in it,I tried googling gridiron greats and the only thing i could find was a charity organisation for retired players!

| Could you post a pic of one of those Gridiron Greats jerseys? The name rings a bell, but I can't quite picture what they're like.
I've got a few college jerseys - some Nike football ones from about 10 years ago. No idea what the players are though as manufacturers aren't allowed to put player names on the back of college jerseys. More recently I've been getting game-used college jerseys which are pretty cool - not very easy to wear though.

Its only current players that they can't, Nike do a range of college jerseys a bit like the reebok throwbacks where they put classic players names on. (Seau is part of the "midfield generals range i think) Im aiming to do some pics of my collection. Ill try and post a pic of the gridiron greats one. I also have a Vick Sugar bowl jersey which is also Nike. (picked it up cheap when his name was mud )

| Yeah those college throwbacks are smart. I've been after a Adidas True School Dan Marino for a while. I can never find one below a size 54 and I gather they run quite big. Definately post pics though- college throwbacks always seem to be very underrated and there are some great ones out there. | |

| When did Adidas make jerseys for Ohio State? I know the last few years they've been made by Nike. | |

| One day when I get a working camera, I'll post some pics. For the time being, these are all the college jerseys I have in my collection: Illinois Fighting Illini - #7 premier, blue - #9 replica, white - #84 replica, orange (signed by various players) - #47 LEMAN game-issued, white (signed by J Leman himself ) - #13 GOCKMAN game-worn, white - #41 WEIL game-worn, blue - #24 FLOWERS game-worn, orange Funny story; I actually bumped into John Gockman himself after the last home game. I was walking outta Memorial Stadium and some guy asks who the #13 jersey belonged to. Sure enough it was his old jersey haha Other schools... Texas Longhorns - #25 authentic (burnt orange) Michigan Wolverines - #7 authentic (white) w/ authentic Capital One Bowl patch sewn onto it Ok, so while we're on the topic of college jerseys... I've noticed that genuine jerseys made by Nike are sold in sizes 48, 52, 56, and 60. Recently I've come across some Tebow jerseys in sz 50 on eBay, are these fakes? My Michigan jersey is a 48 and says XL on the collar tag while my Texas jersey is a 52 and says XXL. The sz 50 jerseys are being advertised as Large so I'm a little confused if a 48 is alreafy an XL. They could very well be fake but they seem to have all the correct tags, patches, and whatnot. The Florida jerseys I've seen all have the SEC conference patch and the small tag that says 'AUTHENTIC' next to the jocktag. | |

| Wow, that is a SWEET collection, Bears! Are you located in the US or UK? It's just that if you're in the UK, I have to tip my hat to you for your extreme dedication / loyalty to come see an Illinois game; travelling all that distance. I've met Harry Carson, former NY Giants linebacker, and I go to the Philadelphia Eagles' training camp every year, which is absolutely awesome. As for your question on the Nike jerseys, I'm really not sure. I just won a Penn State jersey on eBay this week and received it today, and it just has XL on the locker tag, and next to it is kinda like a flag tag that says "Authentic" on it as well. But I'm really not sure, as I tend more towards buying the authentic/game worn or issued jerseys, as I hate the way the heat pressed numbers on the replicas eventually crack and peel. A couple reasons I bought this PSU jersey is because I paid $22 for a $60 jersey, I need one as I'm a student there, and I wanted to get a replica as I really don't want to mess my authentic one up (even though I only paid $40 for it over the summer. Today was the first time I'd seen the new tag on the Nike jersey, and I was going to make mention of it here, to see if anyone else has seen it yet. I'll post a pic tomorrow so everyone can see the change if they're not familiar with it already...And by the way, you need to acquire a Penn State jersey | |

| Thanks! Hahaha nah I'm definitely from the Chicagoland area, I love my Fighting Illini but I dunno if I'd be willing to travel that much for every game. I've met a few of the more recent Illinois grads in the NFL like Vontae Davis. I had a class with juice Williams last year, he was a nice guy but definitely kinda cocky. We'll see where he gets drafted (if at all)... Penn State is probably next on my list after Ohio State, I'm trying to get a jersey of every Big Ten school. I know they only released authentic jerseys for Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan. The Michigan jersey I have is made by Nike but they have since switched to Adidas. the one you have is probably a replica or premier. I know for authentic jerseys the size is numerical instead of M, L, XL, etc. However, if you look at the neckline tag on an authentic, it will say the numerical value and its equivilant. For example, my Michigan jersey has 48 and then XL. As much as I (and every other non-Michigan fan) hate Michigan, I must say they have some pretty sweet uniforms. When Nike made em, it seemed like there was so much more spandex on the jersey than mesh. The only reason I bought the white one was so that I could sewn the Capital One Bowl patch on. I almost won a Mike Hart blue jersey but lost with 2 secs to go Their white jerseys look cool because they have the yellow stripe that runs down the side and connect in the lower back (their new Adidas jerseys have a similar design), whereas their home jerseys have never changed designs. Hope that helps | |

| By the way,
Since you're a student, you should check if the school ever does garage sales for game-worn equipment. I know U of I has one every fall and spring. best of all, everything's rediciously cheap. I remember getting the #41 and #24 game worn jerseys for 40 bucks apiece. The #24 jersey actually looked more like a game issued jersey rather than a game worn one since there were no impact marks or stains anywhere. Illinois never did use their orange jerseys that much until a few years ago...

| Very cool. No wonder I'm still talking to you (in regards to time of night lol).
I'll be keeping an eye on where/if Juice or Clark gets drafted in a couple months. My bet is that they both are signed as undrafted free agents, though, or if they're drafted it's in the late rounds.
I actually have what is alleged to be a game worn Michigan jersey, by Nike. It has heavy heat-pressed numbers and the Nike logo is sewn in. Very nice blue and maize colored numbers, i'll have to post a pic of that one too. #2 jersey.
I don't think I hate Michigan as much as Ohio State, lol; but that's just me too, probably.
As for the "garage sale" I'll definitely have to inquire. I know I see Penn State game worn stuff up on eBay from time-to-time, but it's at a price I'm not able to afford, nor would i consider paying THAT much ($250-ish) for one.
That definitely helps; thanks! Check back tomorrow I'll post a pic of the Michigan jersey I have, as well as the Virginia Tech, and Oregon jerseys. I hope the Cal jersey I won is in tomorrow.
