Carolina Panthers' Moves

So far nothing in free agency.

Matt Moore was named the starting QB today after the official announcing of the release of seven-year veteran Jake Delhomme.

Out of Carolina:

I thought that the Panthers would keep him for another year, seeing as they have to pay him $12.6 million. He'd have filled the backup QB spot for a year behind Moore, now they have to pay Delhomme and find another QB and pay him too. I suppose it make some sense for 2011, but the Panthers aren't the richest team.

They're not the richest team, but they're not the poorest, either. Jerry Richardson has a decent amount of money.

The feeling around the league and it's fans was that Delhomme and Moore would compete for the starting job, and keep Delhomme as a backup for one more year.

Last year the Panthers extended Delhomme's contract so they could fit Peppers into the salary cap. Now they're out $12 million and have neither on the team.

Plus they're thin at QB, so I wonder if the DeAngelo Williams trade rumors will intensify so Carolina can get into the first-round of the draft.
