Old-era Nike/Starter Sizing Question Empty
PostSubject: Old-era Nike/Starter Sizing Question   Old-era Nike/Starter Sizing Question EmptyThu Sep 06 2012, 22:01

Greetings,

I had a question that I haven't been able to find a good answer for: Are the authentic 90s era Nike jerseys comparable in size to the (used to be) current Reebok authentic jerseys? I have not been able to get a precise answer from users on eBay about the measurements and the ones I have seen vary from size to size. I wear a 52 in the authentic Reebok (can wear a 54 or even a 56), but I'm unsure about the Nike 90s era ones for comparison, although a 52 Starter Pro Line I have is definitely bigger than the 52 one I have in the Reebok. Since there is no 54 in the old (and new) Nike sizes, I was just wondering about how they stack up and what would be the best bet.

I do apologize for the rambling, but I figured this would be the best place to ask!

I only had one Nike jersey from that era, I found it to be longer and a little thinner than the Reebok's and the sleeves were really long too. I'm afraid that I don't have a size chart for them. Not very helpful I know but what I would do is find one with a good seller who is willing to take it back and try it on, if it was wrong then I'd know to go up or down a size.

Hopefully someone here will have a couple in their collection that they can measure for you.

That's actually helpful. When you say thinner do you mean thinner/smaller or thinner/fabric quality? I'm going to be at a place today with the new Nike jerseys and since they didn't change their odd numbering system (no 54) ill see if I can make a comparison.

I agree with Billsfan - in my experience the Nikes from the late 90s definitely ran neater than the Reeboks of the last few years have. Some of them are also cut really short, and look a bit strange (I seem to have noticed this more with the Steelers than any other team.)

The Starters I have had have been comparable to Reebok's sizes of late. You do still get variations due to different teams using different materials, which I guess may shrink or expand through age and multiple washes, but generally they seem to be around the same.

Update: I picked an Authentic Nike sz 52 Terrell Davis Broncos Jersey and the sizing was quite surprising. It was actually more loose than I thought it would be. They way everyone described the sizing i thought it would be tight, but it was actually more roomy then a Reebok sz 52 I own. It may have been just the size based on the team since it does have that different neck cut with the NFL shield. I'm looking at an Adidas 52 and a different Nike 52 so I may be able to compare sizes and give some info on them.
